A companion app built exclusively for the Owen Sound Salmon Spectacular — live leaderboard, catch logging, and an interactive derby boundary map. Built locally, hosted locally, branded entirely as yours. The fish stay unpredictable. Everything else gets easier.
Why an app — and why now
Anglers on the water right now are juggling paper rules, word-of-mouth standings, and generic fishing apps that couldn't find Owen Sound with both hands and a depth finder. Derby Live puts the whole event in one place — and gives the SSA real-time engagement data no clipboard ever could.
Standings update the moment a fish hits the scales. Anglers watch themselves climb, get bumped, and head straight back out for revenge. Engagement becomes a loop, not a lineup.
Nothing motivates a second trip out like being 0.04 lb from first. The legal derby zone drawn on an interactive Georgian Bay chart. One tap answers "am I in bounds?" before the lines go in — fewer disputes, fewer disqualifications.
"I was pretty sure I was legal" retires as an official defence.Weight, species, time, and photo captured in seconds at weigh-in. Every entry builds a season-over-season dataset on catch trends the SSA can use for conservation reporting.
The fish stories stay at the dock. The data comes home clean. The full derby rulebook, searchable, in-app, and cached for offline use. No more "I didn't know" at the scales.
SSA logo, colours, sponsors, and prize board throughout. This is the Spectacular's app — not a third-party platform borrowing your event.
Rotating sponsor placements inside the leaderboard and map screens — a new, measurable asset to offer your sponsor partners.
Prime waterfront advertising, no zoning permit required.Interactive demo
Everything below is a working concept with sample data. Any resemblance between our demo anglers and actual persons is purely fintentional. The real build connects to your official weigh station.
What we'd need from the SSA
GPS-verified boundary coordinates from your committee, tested on the water before launch. An app anglers can't trust in-bounds is worse than no app.
Leaderboard entries must come from your weigh station, not self-reporting, to keep standings dispute-proof. We build a simple staff entry screen for the scales. Fish are honest; the leaderboard should be too.
Cell signal drops on open water. The app caches the boundary map and rules for full offline use — connectivity only matters at weigh-in. The fish don't get bars out there either.
The investment
Built and hosted in Grey County by Sincerity — the same local, hands-on model behind working business apps already running for area companies. No platforms, no per-user fees, no surprises at the scales.
One-time. Covers the full 2026 derby.
